• [Multi-Protocol Hub & Matter Bridge] The M3 is a versatile hub. With Aqara repeaters, the M3 hub supports up to 127 Aqara Zigbee devices and 127 Thread devices. ( See Aqara website for a list of Aqara Zigbee devices on display at Matter). It integrates third-party devices into the Aqara Home app (currently limited to certain types of devices, will be extended over time). As a Matter Bridge, it exposes existing Aqara Zigbee devices with Matter ecosystems such as Home Assistant and Apple Home and allows Aqara’s proprietary scenes and signals to sync with these ecosystems for seamless integration.
• [Edge Compatibility and Local Automations] The M3 acts as an Edge hub, focusing on local control and automation. After integration, it replaces existing Aqara hubs, transferring automations between them to a local operation (*Some cloud-based notifications still require an Internet connection). Scalable in terms of upgrade, it supports migrating Zigbee devices from older Aqara hubs. (A reconfiguration is required for Matter and HomeKit; cloud integrations such as Google Home and Alexa retain all configurations.)
• [Smart IR Blaster with Feedback and Learning] The 360° infrared housing not only sends commands, but also provides accurate status updates by detecting the use of a traditional remote control. It connects infrared air conditioning units to Matter, functioning as an AC thermostat when paired with an Aqara temperature and humidity sensor. (Note: Only an air conditioning unit can be exposed to Matter. Features may vary depending on the Matter integration app. For Apple Home exposure, use Matter integration instead of HomeKit.)
• [Optimal wired and wireless connectivity] Offering both wired and wireless solutions, the M3 offers dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz) with advanced WPA3 security, as well as a Power over Ethernet (PoE) port. The addition of a USB-C port allows for mini-UPS and power bank connections, providing unparalleled stability. (*USB 2A power adapter is not included.)
• [Privacy with Encrypted Storage, Easy Setup and Versatile Placement] The M3 prioritizes privacy by excluding microphone or camera components. It has 8GB of end-to-end encrypted local storage, for device lists, configuration settings, and automation configuration data. In addition, it includes a bracket and screws for flexible placement on flat surfaces, walls or ceilings. Magic Pair technology ensures effortless detection by the Aqara Home app when powered on.
